The Northwest Sons were formed by Ian Ayers and Chris Molina two singing, song writing guitar players just over a year ago. Both had just ended projects with other local bands and were looking for something new. Together with Art Arzaga playing percussion they wrote a handful of songs and played an acoustic show for the locals in Ocean Shores. The fan support was amazing and motivated them to pursue their goals and become a full band and deliver their reggage music and irie vibe to the Northwest. Their music caught the attention of two other local musicians Bret Bailie and Erik Madsen who wanted in on the growing band. With Bret on drums and Erik on bass The Northwest Sons had reached their first goal of putting together a full band. They started playing local shows at venues such as The Nectar, Columbia City Theatre, King Kat Theatre, and Jazzbones with other well known bands and artists such as Sashamon, Josh Heinrichs, Tribal Seeds, Iration, The B-Foundation, Inhale, One Drop and Mike Pinto to name a few. The fan base was growing quickly and demand for an album was undeniable. Before going into the studio they completed a west coast tour gathering inspiration from fans and experiences to take to the studio for their album. They also had the honor and experience to play for fundraising events for local students and young musicians.
