Let’s face it – the music industry has changed. Advancements in technology have given nearly everyone the capability to produce music and share it with the world. In an industry once dominated by gate keepers, barriers to entry have now been torn down. This new found freedom presents its own set of challenges as the sea of music has grown exponentially. Now more than ever, the music needs the ability to stand on its own. Generally speaking, the formula for bands has remained the same. A group of individuals gets together, writes songs and records a single, EP or an album. These parameters require the group to physically get together, write, record and tour. What if there was a different approach? Is a different approach even possible? Some might say never…. North of Never is taking an unorthodox approach and challenging the impossible. The group consists of Michael Johnson (vocalist/songwriter), Mike O’Campo (guitarist/songwriter), and Erik Seime (guitarist/songwriter). What’s different about this formula you might ask? All 3 members are in different time zones. Johnson hails from California, O’Campo calls Texas home, and Seime resides in West Virginia. So how did this all come about? Mike and Erik had previously seen great success as members of the band Our Waking Hour which their 2011 album Seconds to Save Her continues to rack up 25k monthly listeners on Spotify 9 years later. While writing for a potential sophomore album for OWH, Mike and Erik started exploring other o
