Artist
Nora Fischer (born 1987) is a Dutch soprano based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. A classically trained soprano, Fischer is known in The Netherlands for breaking musical boundaries: she sings classical material, but also pop, jazz, folk and other genres - and has a very modern stage persona. Her 2018 album début, Hush, was put out by the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label and features twelve songs, written centuries ago by 'songwriters' such as Claudio Monteverdi and Henry Purcell, but re-arranged and played on electric guitar by her musical companion, Marnix Dorrestein (b. 1991). Nora Fischer's father is famous Hungarian conductor, Iván Fischer. "We take 400 year-old songs, strip them down to their essence and place them in the present," Fischer says.
