NOAH Noah’s life story sounds like a film script, or maybe a fantastical, modern-day fable. Were Noah not so physically imposing, you might even accuse him of making it up – though not the bit about the boxing titles (just check out the size of those biceps). In person however, this enigmatic singer has a presence so powerful even his tale of training for the priesthood somehow seems to make sense. What is certain is that no one else could come up with the music Noah is making. No one but the singer Kerrang! described as “the Vin Diesel of rock” could compile a list of collaborators as diverse as Wu-Tang Clan’s Killer Bees, Prodigal Sunn and Shyheim, Killing Joke, Dillinger Escape Plan, Denaun Porter and Royce Da 5’9” from Slaughterhouse, and ex-All Saint Mel Blatt. Crucially, no one but Noah is in a position to distil as strange a range of experiences into a rock album as ambitious, soulful and fresh sounding as ‘Five Decades Below’. Like Dame Shirley Bassey and Tom Jones, Noah’s story begins in South Wales. Born in Port Mama Road. He grew up in the tough surroundings of Tiger Bay, moving from one council estate to another with his family.
