Jimmy Dunne (AKA No Gimmicks) was born and raised in Galway, Ireland. He grew up listening to the Radio before acquiring a taste for Hip Hop. From that he began to broaden his horizon and his musical taste grew with genres such as Electro, Downtempo, Trip Hop, Ambient, Classical, Folk, Swing and many others. Influenced by artists such as Emancipator, Tor, Nym, Nujabes, Yann Tiersen and many more, No Gimmicks has developed his own style of electronic downtempo / hip hop instrumentals. He started messing around with Reason 4 around the age of 16 but it wasn't until the age of 18 before he created anything worthwhile. Sampling the likes of the Godfather and I am Legend themes. He continued to focus mainly on Hip Hop beats until he acquired a M-Audio Axiom 49 MIDI keyboard. He has since progressed from just looped Hip Hop beats to layered Downtempo style instrumentals.
