Artist
Nita Chawla is a pop/adult contemporary singer from Arlington, VA, USA. An urban girl with a Southern heart and Eastern roots, Nita Chawla's melody-driven song-writing style has hints of her eastern roots and forms a sweet and edgy musical palette. From the classical vocals of Mohammed Rafi to the edgy and ethereal sounds of Tori Amos, to soulful pop singers such as Adele and Colbie Caillat, Nita’s vocal and songwriting style have been influenced by both east and west, contemporary and traditional. In July of 2009, she recorded with Jeffery David in L.A. to record her debut album “Fall Again EP”. Her song "Forgive Me" received an honorable mention in the 2010 MASC (Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest) and was featured on the first season of NBC reality shows, "The Voice" and “Fashion Star”. After a yearlong stint in NYC, she now performs regularly as a solo artist at venues like IOTA, The Lincoln Theatre, Rock and Roll Hotel, Hard Rock Café, The Velvet Lounge and Wonderland Ballroom. In 2013 she was selected as one of six artist grant winners at DC's House Studio and recorded her second EP, "Grace".
