Nipper & the Seaturtles are the fictitious musical swan song of bassist-around-town Nipper Seaturtle. Formed in 1999, they played 6 gigs on 10 years, each time with a different lineup. The songs were borne out of Nipper's experience with Coeds Of The New Left (formerly Cal-Transvestites), White Trash Debutantes, and the Negro Problem... when she decided if she couldn't write the best songs in the world, she was going to write the worst. The cowpunk-flavoured "Daddy's Got Tits". Merseybeat-inspired "Grout", garage rocker "You Must Be A Fag", and Motown-tinged "Plumber of Love" show her ability to write horrible songs in all styles. One of these days, probably post-humously, someone somewhere with nothing better to do will compile both the first and last N&TST lp, I Put A Shell On You, and the Nipper Seaturtle solo follow-up, A Reptile Dysfunction.
