Nine Men's Morris is a three man Pop/Rock group from New York; Pop, if Pop means you can understand the lyrics. They are definitely Rockers of the kind we loved in the sixties and early seventies. The Band is undeservedly unknown. The Group members are singer/songwriter Bruce McDaniel on lead vocals and guitar, Donald Kyle on bass, and Perry Gartner on the drums. The three are long-time friends and musicians. Bruce McDaniel claims as influences, The Beatles, Frank Zappa, Radiohead, Fountains of Wayne, Weezer, and Ben Folds Five. Donald Kyle's early influences were The Beatles and Cheap Trick. Perry Gartner says that Nine Men's Morris musical influences "are all over the place." Their melodies have been compared to those of The Beatles, their catchy guitar tricks to those of Cheap Trick , and their witty and intelligent lyrics to those of Elvis Costello. They have released two albums to date, "Monster in My Stomach" and "It's a Wonderful Life." The title song, "It's a Wonderful Life" is an upbeat pleaser. Look also at "Again and Again" and "Time to Think" and from "Monster in My Stomach," "Christine."
