The term “Nina Karlsson” refers both the St Petersburg trio, formed in 2008, and to its lead singer. The musicians are the mysteriously named Viktor Pro… Sankov (bass & flute), Aleksandr Potapov (drums) and, not surprisingly, Nina Karlsson herself on vocals and keyboards. She is also the band’s primary composer and lyricist; her work is promoted in the following fashion. Karlsson is something special. It’s as if she has come to us from better times, when music wasn’t referred to — rather cynically — as ’showbiz,’ and there existed only art and adulation.
