Nikola Kołodziejczyk (b. June 6, 1986, Kraków, Poland) A young polish pianist, arranger and composer, leader of ONK: Nikola Kołodziejczyk Orchestra. Detailed biography can be found at his website. Nikola is representing a new generation of polish musicians - combining classical music affinity with creative improvisational passion. He is known as deliberate explorer of the musical twilight zones between classical-like musical forms, jazz approach to time in music and producer's-like focus on sound, mixing electronics with orchestral instruments, searching for unusual sounds in a much more organized fashion than You would expect from the kind of music it appears to be in the first place. He has won numerous awards for his compositions or his playing style in Poland. He is also a semi-finalist of Bosendorfer Solo Piano Competition on Montreux Jazz Festival 2007 and a recipient of Berklee World Tour Scholarship. Played, composed or arranged music for such artists as Bartek Pieszka Quartet, Adam Bałdych, Storyboard, Vitalij Ivanow, Kid Brown, Bożena Boba-Dyga, New Bone, Asia Wójcik, Stryjo, Sandecki. He is currently studying composition and arrangement under prof. Ed. A. Partyka, and jazz piano under prof. Wojciech Niedziela in Katowice Academy of Music.
