It's a claim the band themselves have made on more than one occasion and it's patently obvious to anyone who listens. All of the stylistic elements of crunkcore are there; screaming vocals, thumping beats, and untold amounts of emo boy swagga come together to form a unique fusion of hardcore and rap music. Nightclub Fight Club themselves acknowledge that they're not the first to pioneer this genre; they do, however, assert that they're the first ones to "get it right". "It started as a joke," recalls Nightclub Fight Club co-founder, screamer, and chief beat author JP. "I was sitting on my porch hittin a jack and I laughed to myself and thought, 'you know what would be a good name for one of those emo-screaming-hip-hop bands? Nightclub Fight Club'. So I called Mike and told him, and we had a good laugh, and decided to do a couple tracks for fun. Those tracks, written to pass the time, were soon thrown onto a small digital EP called "Bodybag Bling" which was then distributed to friends and the internet. What the duo didn't count on, however, was the overwhelmingly positive response to the music. "People kept saying, Mike, I had no idea you could rap! That shit is DOPE!" says Mike, Nightclub's de facto frontman and co-founder. "I had people I never even met screaming 'Nightclub Fight Club motherFUCKER!' the way I did it on 'Roll With Us'.
