Nigel Wearne is a country/folk singer-songwriter whose music has an intimate and poignant narrative. Equipped with personally handcrafted guitars, his music melds finger-style guitar, country twang, honky-tonk and honest storytelling. With a hint of Hank Williams and influences including Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Bob Dylan and the spirit of Woody Guthrie, Nigel Wearne tells stories of mischievous bank robbers, wandering poets and his love of eggs. Nigel has performed at various music festivals throughout Australia, including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Queenscliff Music Festival, Tablelands Folk Festival and the Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival. With frayed poetic edges and honest grit, Wearne is "one of Australia's emerging songwriters" (Tone Deaf) and has "the narrative-fuelled prose of Paul Kelly" (Beat Magazine). Nigel’s new album Black Crow was recorded by Adelaide’s Mick Wordley (Jeff Lang, Chris Whitley, Jordie Lane), and has received impressive reviews across the board, most notably, a 4 star review in Rolling Stone Magazine. Black Crow is available now on iTunes http://bit.ly/VgrZuO.
