“Simply Irresistible” are the lyrics that Durban born, Nic Billington, belted out whilst watching a Robert Palmer music video at the tender age of 6 years. At that very moment, Nic knew he was destined to be in the music industry. After relocating with his family from Scotland to South Africa in 1994, Nic often ventured out on his own to indulge in his favourite past time: music. He spent his younger days with his notebook and pen, scribbling lyrics while laying down melodies on his tape recorder. By the age of 13, he had already written an array of songs. During his schooling career, Nic was involved in the school choir and later became one half of the duo, The Verdict. The Verdict enjoyed popular success with their combination style of dance and house music. In 2006, Nic was in the employ of an independent record company, where he spent time learning the trivia of the music industry. He soon began networking with producers, using his business perceptive to slowly build the foundations of his career as a music artist. Nic commenced with vocal lessons at Williams-Ros Studios and performed his first solo act in a show at Ushaka Marine World. He began performing at various corporate events whilst travelling and performing with numerous industry peers. He performed at the annual Dolphin Dash in Durban for two consecutive years as well as for the Mr South Africa event which contributed to raising funds for The North Coast Courier Orphan Fund.
