The band's musicianship is tight and the chemistry between the band members translates into an electric energy on stage that draws the crowd in and doesn't let them go. The Philadelphia City Paper recently said of them, "they groove, they rock, they make you dance and they throw one of the best parties around." The bottom line about this band is this: if you go to hear New Pony, what will be obvious from the first riffs of the guitar, a growl from the Hammond B-3, the funky beats on the high hat cymbol, and the opening groove set by the bass, is that these guys came to play. New Pony has a vast repertoire comprised of their own original songs and an array of funk and rock covers, all of which are done with a unique New Pony twist. In any given set, the guys can go from an original to an Aretha classic, a wah-wah drenched Beatles cover, to a classic by the iconic Meters, back to an original, and end with their own take on a Led Zeppelin standard. And the crowd will be sticking around for the next set, guaranteed. New Pony kicked off their professional career in 2008 with shows in and around Philadelphia.
