There was a time when bands were content to shoe-gaze during performances, letting lyrics fall limply from their mouths, standing there preoccupied with poseur chic and looking cool rather than entertaining and encouraging their audience to enjoy themselves! NeverSayDie embrace the idea of giving their crowd a spectacle and injecting some energy to the proceedings… Like most suburban settings, Cannock, a town 20 minutes north of Birmingham, seemed only to provide a landscape for small-mindedness and very little creative output. “It’s the type of town where people are content to never pursue their dreams! They’re born here, live here, work and die here, that’s not for us,” says Adam. Here nobody can hear you screaming, because this kind of music was unwanted and undesired because it provokes attention. And so hidden in their bedrooms the boys turned to music for escapism, six friends with one dream! NeverSayDie began over two years ago; having the foundations set, all they needed was a name, a moniker to fit there sound and attitude. After realising all the good names were taken, the band returned to the drawing board looking for something that could fit their style. After an afternoon screening of ‘The Goonies’, they found it, and what better than a name synonymous with fun and youthful adventure. It clicked; it was catchy, fun and instantly familiar.
