Artist
Brighton, England’s Nelson King melds a lo-fi, indie rock aesthetic to a classic song writing style that feels all at once both fresh and nostalgic. King is a prolific singer/songwriter, recording and releasing his 7th full album in less than a decade. His staunch DIY ethic of creating music in his home studio as well as successfully self-releasing albums has allowed him to eschew the rigmarole most bands and songwriters generally struggle with starting out. His latest release, Songs, finds King playing to his strengths; writing honest, compelling lyrics which complete an eclectic blend of songs that vacillate between the uplifting “Shine”, and the downtrodden, delicately plodding “Worry About Tomorrow When It Comes”. King’s raspy voice sits over a bed of acoustic guitar, creating complete emotional transparency between himself and the listener.
