Nazca is the name of at least five different groups: 1. Avant-garde progressive rock group: Now defunct, NAZCA started off in 1980 with Alejandro Sánchez and Carlo Nicolau, later joined by three other musicians. All five had classical music training and experience in various orchestras and bands. Their compositions mix RIO, classical, avant-garde and ethnic influences (Mayan/Aztec/Inca). Their two studio and one live albums combine bassoon, oboe, violin, viola, cello, piano, bass, drums and percussion into a mysterious, ritualistic atmosphere. They disbanded in 1988 after limited public reception. 2. Post-hardcore / alternative rock band: Formed in 2014 in Getxo and Urduliz, Bizkaia (Basque Country, Spain), after an early stage that began in 2012. The group —featuring Jon Fernández, Gorka Mota, Miguel Cañadilla, Martín Gutiérrez, and Francisco Juan— became part of the Bilbao-area alternative scene. Their debut EP (2015) won the Gaztea Maketa Lehiaketa, followed by Bonzo (2016) and their full-length Normalmente nos pienso en estas cosas (2018). In 2020 they announced an indefinite hiatus, closing the stage with the live album ¿Y si lo dejamos aquí? recorded at Tío Pete Studios in Bilbao. 3. Alt-rock: Finnish-Norwegian indie band located in Helsinki. Active from 1998 onwards. Released two albums (Biodegradable, Non Grata), one EP (Straight Hope Tissue), and a live DVD (Free for All). Somewhere between Joy Division, Syd Barrett and Dead Kennedys. Official site: http://www.songsf
