Nathaniel Slade, known to friends and fans as ‘THAN’, is a singer, guitarist, songwriter and techie. www.myspace.com/thanspace While there have been inevitable comparisons with Jeff Buckley, Jack Johnson, Elliot Smith, Nick Harper et al, his musical journey has absorbed diverse sounds: indie, rock, folk, blues, reggae, Welsh choral music, dub, samba and processional drumming. From this furnace of influences he has brought forth an acoustic-guitar based album that is both unique and original. Born in Bristol, he has lived in Glasgow and Brighton; on a beach in South America, in a remote and soggy corner of Wales and can currently be found trying out London for size, when not in Edinburgh. Several years spent writing and performing in Scotland resulted in his new album Heart Music Soul Music. This was recorded with the help of noted Edinburgh roots-fusion band 'The Ruffness', produced by Robin Wynne-Evans at Tpot studio and mastered by John Davies at Alchemy. THAN’s first ever gig was at The Fleece in Bristol while still at school, a promising start that kicked off a decade of performances – festivals, parties, beaches, islands, England, Scotland, America. The venues list reads like a who’s who directory of gigs: The Jazz Bar and Bongo Club, Edinburgh; The Louisiana, Fleece and Thekla, Bristol; The Dublin Castle, Monarch and 12 Bar Club, London; and The Jericho Tavern, Oxford,Glastonbury festival...and so extensively on.
