Hailing from Tokyo, but with roots in rural Japan, The New House consists of five young men .Born (with the exception of Yu) from a fashion school background and formed in Shinjuku circa 2008 , which also explains the name : the alternative reading for the kanji is "New" and "House"(nothing to do with relocation or real estate). Playing gigs in the Tokyo/Kyoto indie scene, their original brand of melodic/ethnic pop stood out. Signed to Kyoto based record label SECOND ROYAL RECORDS, they released their 7" single "Kill The House" followed by their first E.P "Want Alone But Help Me". They have also released a split cassette with Hollywood based lo fi pop moguls Sea Lions, on independent Tokyo based label VIOLET AND CLAIRE RECORDS. Making a transition from tribal pop to freaky forest folk , with influences ranging from Sun City Girls to Basic Chanel , the eclectically mixed New House has opened for The Black Lips and The Vivian Girls on their Japan tours. The former so enamoured with them, they invited them to open their Brooklyn shows in March 2010, and The New House fitted in a mini American tour, including SXSW and joining L.A based party Part Time Punks.
