Nábac is a young Irish band which has emerged from the Galway music scene in 2006. Influenced by bands such as Planxty and The Bothy Band, and produced by Seamie O'Dowd of Dervish, the selection of music on their debut CD “Siar Anoir (West of East)” has a pleasant balance of both Irish songs and tunes. There are tracks stemming from the musical traditions of Denmark, Spain, Hungary and even further afield as well as from the dominant Irish tradition. Nábac also compose their own material. The band have toured in Germany, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, France and Austria. Four of the band members (James Ryan-guitar, Noriana Kennedy-vocals and whistle, Liz Coleman-fiddle and Paddy Kennedy-bodhran percussion) are from Dublin while piper Ciaran O'Donghaile is from Derry city. Being a well recognised act in many of Ireland's folk venues, the band is swiftly creating ripples in the musical scene with a sound that is innovative, varied, and soulful while staying true to the Irish traditional sound.
