Mystic Prophecy is a German power metal band from Bad Grönenbach. Their musical style has been described as heavy and melodic, drawing comparisons to American power metal bands such as Iced Earth due to its melodic guitar riffing and prominent drumming. The band was formed in 2000 by Valley’s Eve members R.D. Liapakis and Martin Albrecht. Greek guitarist Gus G joined the group after being recommended by David T. Chastain and performed all guitar parts on the band’s first three albums before leaving in 2005 to focus on his own band, Firewind. Following his departure, Mystic Prophecy underwent several lineup changes. Vocalist R.D. Liapakis and guitarist Markus Pohl, who joined in 2005, have remained the band’s long-term members. The lineup has also included bassist Joey Roxx and drummer Hanno Kerstan, and in August 2017 guitarist Evan K was added to the group. Since 2001, Mystic Prophecy has released multiple studio albums. Their ninth album “War Brigade”, released in 2016 through Massacre Records, became their best-selling release up to that point and included songs such as “Metal Brigade”, “The Crucifix”, “Burning Out”, and “War Panzer”. In January 2018, the band released “Monuments Uncovered”, an album consisting of metal cover versions of rock songs from the 1970s and 1980s, including “You Keep Me Hangin’ On”, “Shadow on the Wall”, “I’m Still Standing”, and “Because the Night”.
