My Sister Kate was a band from Westminster Maryland (a rural suburb of Baltimore) that was active from 1999 - 2005. The main band members consisted of Joe Rankin, Frank Adams, and Jesse Davis but also included multiple different members including Hez Carty, Rick Kelly, Jason Nichols (of Active Sac) and Matt Miller (of the Evan Anthem). One review from the Baltimore City Paper described My Sister Kate as a "Crunchy, spacey indie rock band formed in 1999...known for their energy, complicated yet catchy song structures, and experimental/pop style. Main influences of the band might be Superchunk, Poster Children and the Pixies." My Sister Kate release 3 EP's titled by number (MSKEP01,02,03) during the 6 year run. Each release was printed, pressed and sold in a DIY manner. MP3's are available from jesse@wallriderecords.com. After a 2 year “break”, My Sister Kate decided to reform the band as THE SOUNDING ROCKETS. Band members currently are in these other bands: Head Home, Active Sac, and The Jons (westminster).
