Musica Amphion, founded in 1993 by harpsichord and recorder player Pieter-Jan Belder, is dedicated to the performance of orchestral and chamber music from the 17th and 18th century on original instruments. The leader is violinist Rémy Baudet, concertmaster of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century (led by Frans Brüggen). Musica Amphion draws its players from the ranks of other prominent Baroque orchestras and most of them also enjoy a successful solo career. Musica Amphion has appeared at the Early Music Festival Utrecht, the Festival Classique in The Hague and appears regularly at various stages both in the Netherlands and abroad. in the series Vocal Baroque in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Musica Amphion annually performs remarkable programmes with international top soloists. From autumn 2011 Musica Amphion initiates a long-term project called 'Bach in Context', together with the Gesualdo Consort Amsterdam. This project sheds new light on Bach's cantatas by presenting them in their musical-liturgical context, with performances in several monumental churches and halls in the Netherlands and Germany. Musica Amphion has issued countless CD recordings. Its discography includes Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, ‘Musikalisches Opfer’ and the concerti for 2, 3 and 4 harpsichords, Telemann’s complete ‘Tafelmusik’, and the complete works of Corelli. A recording of keyboard concertos by Bach & Sons, under the ‘Quintone’ label, earned a score of 10 in the Dutch music magazine 'Luister'
