Muffler Men is a power trio from Ghent, Belgium, with a super-tight music line. Their alternative rock is solid, and leans towards stoner rock. During the summer of 2008, autodidacts Steve De Vlieger and Dirk Legiest found each other from their joint metal background, after which their shared musical passion led to an explosive evolution. Soon thereafter, bass player Jelle Van Lysebettens (Mary & Me, Waldorf) joined them. Subsequently, Muffler Men managed to build an excellent live reputation, with appearances at Muurrock Geraardsbergen 2009, Sleuterrock Oeselgem 2009, Voltage Festival Wetteren 2009, Manjerock Heestert 2010, Burgrock Brugge 2010, Fonnefeesten Lokeren 2010, ... During this time, the new sound of Muffler Men was created. Earlier influences from the metal scene were broadened towards the sound of Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters and Muse. Early 2010 allowed for an increase in rhythmic and melodic creativity, which caught on immediately. It became time to add some finesse and excitement into the compositions, resulting in a spontaneous emergence of new, catchy songs, bundled in an exploding ball of energy. The last few years, Muffler Men has captured quite a few prizes at various rock competitions and the commentaries have been highly praising, as illustrated below: Cirque Constance 2009 “An excellent sound, definitely one of the discoveries of the road show.
