"After experimenting with sounds on my own and noise with friends of mine, Mrs. Svenson was my "real" first band. I started it in high school back in 1988. We started as a punk rock band, then turned into a instrumental and progressive band in 1990. In 1991 we became a punk band again, but this time with a more pop sensibility. Through many member changes, we stayed that way until 1993/94 when grunge took over and we adapted that into our style of rock n’roll. We stayed that way through more member changes until about 1996/97, when Jarrod really started to blossom as a songwriter. With that came more member changes and a more stripped down version of the band. Eventually, he chose the acoustic guitar over the electric, and he got inspired by people like John Lennon and Brian Wilson. I was playing easier stuff to compliment the songs, but I didn’t mind because I loved the music so much. This was our sound up until the end, when in 2000 we changed our name to “The Singles”. But by this time - it was too late. We were Mrs. Svenson and there was nothing we could do about it. If we wanted to change our name, we should have done it back in 93. I quit the band in 2001, and we all went our separate ways. During the years of the band, we managed to tour across Canada many times (as well as in the U.S.) and got to play with some amazing bands (opening for ALL every summer was one of the highlights for sure) and we even managed to get 2 of our songs in a ABC movie of the week staring Br
