Here And Now Recordings kick off 2008 with a bang as the vinyl 12 inch release of Jobu and on the flipside Le Groove de Prune by Motivators with the rhythm section from the current Manu Dibango band that is Noel Ekwabi on bass and backing vocals, Conti Bilong on drums and Afrika Mkhize on keyboards on fantastic form for these sessions. Jobu is a fully-live retro disco funk jazzodyssey featuring Hannah Kemoh from Reel People (Papa Records) on vocals, Max Grunhard and Scott Baylis providing the brass section and a whole host of other fine players. It continously evolves through spacey Carl Craig style synths to a glorious finale! Jobu was also released on the Jazz Bizniz 4 compilation on Counterpoint Records alongside Jeff Resnick, Sal Davis and Lamont Johnson plus more Le Groove de Prune is a hammond lead afrobeat mover again with Scott Baylis and Max Grunhard from the Quantic Soul Orchestra and Impossible Ark Records providing brass and solos.
