- From 01/12/2010 'The Great Escape' will be known as Motion Tourist. 2010 has seen the band grow from talented Geordie youths, into "without a doubt one of the most promising unsigned bands in the north east". The release of there debut EP 'Balance' in may, brought critical acclaim to the band from the north east music industry with articles in Crack Magazine, NARC, Northern Line and The Journal Newspaper, and earned the band a loyal fan base in the region as well attracting BBC Introducing. In June the band made it down from thousands of acts around the country to be named 4th best unsigned in the UK, with a final show at the 02 Arena, London. This has established them on the national scene, bringing support slots with Chris Helme, Joe Carnell, Starsailor, and Missing Andy to name a few. Even attracting musician Mr Hudson to a recent London show. As 2010 draws to a close the newly named Motion Tourist are pushing on to a follow up EP and single release, with dates around the country in the pipeline, having already ventured to Glasgow's BOX, London's Bridgehouse, and Camden's Bull & Gate.
