Motion In Mind is a solo project of Aki Alatalo. The project was originally started in 2005 (under the name Mind In Motion, which later changed and got simply reversed due to fact that there were already other artists using same guise)The original style of the music was more psychedelic than today. Influences vary from '97-'01 period anthem trance, goa trance and full-on/progressive psychedelic sound. Most notable artists that have influenced his sound are Cosma, FreQ, Infected Mushroom, Vibrasphere, Astrix and 1200 Mics. In begining of 2008, Aki decided to seize the project. This was because of his intention to learn to play guitar and to wider his musical horizons. However, the project has been since relaunched in the beginning of 2009. At the moment of writing, there is only one EP (Magic Behind Tears) that features material from early 2008 and early 2009. It's also worth mentioning that the new music is going to feature guitars aswell, although not changing the content itself. Music of MIM combines progressive elements with trance/psytrance. Main characteristics include floating, spacy sounds and trancelike melodies. Often the music combines full-on sounds, ethnic percussions, floating pads and guitar with floating pads.
