The band MOTANKA was created in 2015 in Lutsk by four musicians: Viktor Zhalnin — vocals, dulcimer, keyboard; Anatolii Zhalnin — guitar; Sergii Khodorchuk — bass-guitar, ocarina; Dmytro Diachenko — drums, throat singing. The band MOTANKA took second place on W:O:A Metal Battle 2018 on the biggest metal festival of the world Wacken Open Air. In December 2018 MOTANKA signed a contract with one of the most famous metal labels of the world Napalm Records. The first album will be released on Napalm in Spring/Summer 2019. The band has played on numerous festivals in Poland, Germany, and Ukraine and was a finalist of the biggest German band-contests: Emergenza, SPH, Dittrock. The band plays in the genre called "mystic metal" and uses traditional Ukrainian instruments — dulcimer and ocarina. By combining ethnic motives, metal music and modern electro- sounds MOTANKA reminds listeners the ancient times and shows different rituals from the past.
