Mosaic Foundation is a eight-piece roots reggae band hailing from Rochester, NY. blast powerful political lyrics withhorn harmonies (Jon Lourette on saxophone, and Chad O'Brien on trombone) and the tightest rhythm section in town. With their original tunes, Mosaic Foundation sweetly rocks the house and the body. Alternating between songs that send political messages and easy love songs like “Long Way Home,” the band provides a range of material in a single set. Mosaic Foundation is held down by the strong drum beats of John-Paul Nawn (who also plays in Ithaca with Kevin Kinsella and David "Solid" Gould & the Temple Rockers) and the booming bass of Ben “Steady” Panepento. Ken Luk, a student at Eastman School of Music, plays rhythm guitar and melodica while Mike Corey, one of the band’s founding members, takes the lead on guitar and has a hand in writing the original music and lyrics. Ekwem Bogmis hits the bubble on the keys and has recently joined in the composition of some new tunes. Mosaic Foundation has opened for world renowned reggae artists Toots and the Maytals, Rebelution, Passafire & local favorites The Po’Boys Brass Band, Thousands of One, John Brown's Body, J-san & the Analogue Sons and Buddhahood. Currently, the group is laying down tracks for their first original record release. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
