Mortar Blast was formed in early 1998. The original line up was Kevin vocals, Jenn vocals, Charlie bass, Pete guitar, and Doyle on drums. This line up practiced and wrote material but never played a show. In the fall of 1998 Jay joined the band playing second guitar. This line up practiced for a couple months before Doyle decided to leave the band. Pete took over on drums leaving Jay at guitar. The band wrote material and recorded a demo in the summer of 1999. The demo was very well received selling many copies which led to one of the bands close friends who had just started a record label (Disobey Records) to release the bands first single, the "Do They Care" EP which was released in late 1999. Mortar Blast played many shows in 1999 playing with bands like The Casualties, The Virus and the Unseen. The band also had 2 songs on the "Another Boston Punk Comp" put out by Rodent Popsicle Records in the summer of the same year. In the fall of the that year Rick joined the band playing second guitar. This line up was together for 5 months when in early 2000 Jay left the band. The line up then consisted of Kevin, Jenn, Rick, Charlie and Pete but they disbanded in the spring of 2000. After a short hiatus Charlie and Rick got a new line up of the band together. The new line up was Charlie vocals, Rick guitar, Josh bass and Benji on drums. This line up recorded a demo in spring of 2001 with some of the old songs rerecorded and new tracks as well. This line up played many shows includin
