There are at least two bands under this name: 1.) Monster X is a straight-edge hardcore band from Albany, New York in the mid-90s who eschewed the genre's typical moshcore sound in favor of harsh, guttural grindcore. They were also notable for their thoughtful lyrics, which tackled political and philosophical questions as well as the personal quest to live drug-free. In particular, their support for drug legalization and their firm anti-religious stance set them apart from the straight-edge mainstream. Their recorded output consisted primarily of compilation tracks and split 7" EPs with other bands, which have been collected on the CD "Indoctrination: Complete Discography". Former members of Monster X run the Gloom and Hater of God record labels and have played in notable hardcore bands including Devoid of Faith, Drop Dead, Limp Wrist, Das Oath, and others. 2.) Monster X is an electro/break-beat/IDM project based in London and releasing albums on free e-label Bedroom Research. Professional radio / tv sound designer by day, electro-breakcore mentalist by night, this smiling misfit has caused so much recent mayhem in his hometown of Grenoble (France), that only London could take him.
