Monitor Sound, based in London, UK, was formed in 2004. An acoustic sound dominates the music, bringing rich melody and harmony to the soft and hard phrases of the music. Monitor Sound has since undergone many changes in the line-up. The band has always been fronted by and played material written by Chris Matthews (guitar and vocals) and Matthew Edkins (piano and bass), whilst original members included James O'Leary (drums) and Matthew Fowkes (lead guitar). The band broke up in 2006 as its members left to go to Universities across the UK or fulfil work commitments. Between 2006 - 2009 Chris attended Lancaster University where, through the nurturing musical atmosphere of the University, he continued to write and perform as a solo artist. In 2009 Chris was joined by Andrew Hudson who provided bass accompaniment and contributed to the song writing process. It was through this involvement and Andrew's talent in recording and mastering that the album "Noises" was finalised. "Noises" is a collection of music predominantly written during Chris' time at University, charting his experiences of young adult-hoot, the most poignant of which being "Love Remain" - written about a friend who took his own life. The album also featured the ever popular "LEDC" and "Deserve", originally written in 2004. The album was produced and recorded by Andrew Hudson and Chris Matthews with valuable contributions from local student musicians James Pemberton and Kelvin Lee over the course of 2 months.
