Mohammad Rezâ Darvishi (Composer and Scholar) Born in 1955, Shirâz; started learning music while 13; obtained entry into the Faculty of Fine Arts, Tehran University 1974; Graduated 1978. International Awards & Nominations: · The Encyclopaedia of the Iranina Musical Instruments, vol.1 received SEM’s (Society for Ethnomusicology) award for the best publication of the year on musical instruments, granted by Bruno Nettl, October 2002. · The music for M. Makhmalbâf’s Safareh Qandehâr was nominated the best foreign film music, among the others, by Bonn biennial festival of film music, Germany 2000. ·Nomination for achievement of UNESCO’s award for the greatest musician worldwide, 2005.
