The Black Country is one of the more unlikely places to find a band whose influences try to avoid heavy metal and men in long shorts. At least one of the groups from Dudley have tried to - Mitch and Murray. Although there have been numerous lineups over the decade-plus that Benjamin Jones has been writing, gigging and recording under this moniker, but he remains the sole permenant fixture. Musical influences come from Red House Painters, Low, Mogwai and My Bloody Valentine- focussing mostly on the quieter moments of their back catalogue. Lyrically, Benjamin's explorations have changed over the years from tales of boredom in the early recordings, to musings on a doomed relationship on the album "The Bleak End Starts Here" (2007) and a series of endings in life and love on the mini-album "A Sad Day For British Wrestling". Benjamin continues to make music under the name Mitch & Murray and hopes that one day he will earn enough money from it to pay the guy who owns the record label a pint.
