Mischief & Mayhem is the name of at least two artists: 1. A jazz/fusion combo that includes Jenny Scheinman (violin), Nels Cline (guitar), Todd Sickafoose (bass), and Jim Black (drums). Their debut CD releases in 2012. 2. About the second artist of this name: The term, 'mischief & mayhem', can be traced to a Bulgarian maneuver from the Thirty Years War used by mercenaries in their attacks on small burgs. Units would first enter inns and watering holes and then progress to starting a full-fledged riot that would eventually see the city erupt in unadulterated violence; the phrase came to prominence again in the 1990s as the marketing slogan used to promote David Fincher's smash hit Fight Club. In the late half of the first decade of the 21st century the phrase gestated in the minds of two virile and unconscionable young artists that emerged like a firestorm out of Queen West.
