about

Mischa Maisky is a Latvian cellist born January 10, 1948 in Riga, Latvian SSR. He currently lives in Belgium. Has the distinction of being the only cellist in the world to have studied with both Mstislav Rostropovich and Gregor Piatigorsky. Rostropovich has lauded Mischa Maisky as "... one of the most outstanding talents of the younger generation of cellists.
