Minkus began in early 2002 as the brain child of songwriter and guitarist Josh Muller (Guitar, Vocals) with his good friend Tim Silva (Vocals, Guitar), in the cluttered garage of George Numair (original drummer). After a short time of revolving bassists, they found the young Cameron Clark (bass) who seemed to fit exactly what they wanted. This pop-punk quartet played with amazing chemistry as friends, but lacked a real idea of where they wanted to go with their music. One year, a handful of okay songs, and a few low-key shows later, George Numair announced that he felt as though he was holding the band back musically and had decided to leave the band. Although he was a great friend, George's absence led to the addition of Peter Radosevich (Drums) in 2003, who's steady rhythm and strong musical opinions really began to tie the music together. Then, on a whim, the band asked Graham Patzner (Trumpet), and Doug deCastro (trombone) to play on a song for them at a show in July of 2003 and immediately decided that the horns were a wonderful addition and decided to lose the basic (and becoming ever more boring) pop punk sound and pick up a more Ska-Punk feel.
