Artist
Mike Rimbaud is an American singer-songwriter and painter. www.mikerimbaud.com Starting his career by performing in the bars and clubs of New York City, Mike Rimbaud signed a French record label in the early '90's. His debut album "Mutiny in the Subway" was recorded in Manhattan at Baby Monster Studios with minimalist production of bass, guitar and percussion. Often compared to Elvis Costello and Bruce Springsteen, he recorded his second album "Funeral Lover" in New York (Baby Monster Studios) and Paris (Mixit Studio). Elliott Murphy produced his third CD, "Red Light." The original songs include "Romantic Depressive" "You Looked Good in Hell" and "Money is a Sex Object." Mike lived three years in Paris. He returned to New York in the mid-'90's. He continued to write and perform with his band, The Subway Sun. In 1997 he released "Graffiti Trees," songs include "Disney Paranoid" "There's a Wasp in the Coffee Cup" and "Fashion Gangster". In 2002 Mike recorded an acoustic CD, "Beast of Broadway" with some songs produced by Brian Ritchie of the Violent Femmes. It was written in Brazil and New York and recorded in two different studios in Manhattan (Listen to "7-11 on September 11th.") 2003 sees the release of Light of Day a tribute to Bruce Springsteen, with Mike's rockabilly inspired rendition of Atlantic City. He also performed at the Stone Pony with other artists to help promote the CD. Between 2004-2008 Mike continues to record and perform solo and with his band The Subway
