Artist
Mikael Helasvuo studied the flute at the Sibelius Academy under Juho Alvas and later under Professor Frantisek Cech at the Prague Conservatoire. He then joined the flute class of Aurele Nicolet at the Freiburg Music Academy. From 1976-1988 he played solo flute with the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and he is nowadays in great demand as soloist and chamber musician in both the modern and the Baroque repertoire. He has in the past few years turned in particular to the Baroque flute. Mikael Helasvuo is a sensitive and intellectual musician; he is untiring in his search for new works and his study of the various aspects of musical expression.
