Miguel Ángel Fúster Coll (Binéfar, Spain, January 22, 1933 – Caracas, Venezuela, September 25, 2012) was a Spanish-born composer and musician who became a pivotal figure in Venezuelan cinema and experimental music. After studying piano and composition at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, where he was a student of Ataúlfo Argenta, Fúster moved to Venezuela in 1958. There, he immersed himself in the country's vibrant artistic scene, collaborating with prominent directors of the New Venezuelan Cinema movement, including Román Chalbaud and Clemente de la Cerda. Over his career, he composed more than 50 soundtracks for films, theater, and television, significantly influencing Venezuela's cultural landscape during the 1970s and 1980s. Fúster's music is distinguished by its innovative fusion of electronic elements, jazz, funk, and Latin American rhythms, positioning him as a pioneer of experimental music in Venezuela. His notable works include the soundtracks for films such as *Cuando quiero llorar no lloro* (1973), *La quema de Judas* (1974), *Soy un delincuente* (1976), and *El pez que fuma* (1977). These compositions not only enriched the Venezuelan cinematic experience but also reflected the social and political tensions of the era. Internationally, Fúster's contributions have been recognized through compilations like *Venezuela 70: Cosmic Visions of a Latin American Earth*, released by Soul Jazz Records.
