Midnight Bankrobbers was a short-lived side project between Vocalist Yusuke Chiba (Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, ROSSO, The Birthday) and guitarist Akinobu Imai (ROSSO, The Birthday) formed after the end of the band ROSSO in Tokyo, Japan in early 2006. On the 19th April 2006 they released the album "冬のピノキオ" [fuyu no pinokio] which would prove to be their only release because in the Summer of 2006 the duo joined up with drummer Kuhara Kazuyuki, who had been in Thee Michelle Gun Elephant with Chiba, and bassist Haruki Hirai and formed the band The Birthday.
