Midheach, pronounced me-ock, is the alias of Irish musician Cóilín Ó Midheach, whose family name finds its origin in the folktales of the Tuatha Dé Danann, and a story of regeneration and healing. Releasing his debut EP ‘Unity-Divinity-Love’ into a world of fear and uncertainty during the first lockdown was far from ideal, but the intent and message behind the songs struck a chord with listeners who sought union and looked to the Divine in a period of upheaval. Describing himself as having “received” the songs on ‘Unity-Divinity-Love’, there is a sense of connection to something powerful and meaningful, as Midheach distils Irish mythology and tradition in an authentic and moving voice. Embracing the Heavens while retaining a strong grounding to nature and the Great Mother, Midheach blends the ethereal with the organic, resonating with his spiritual beliefs and Celtic roots. The age-old need to classify and categorise artists is something that eludes Midheach's style - he simply refers to it as “music from the heart”.
