Artist
Michalis Terlikkas was born in 1955 in in Kapouti, Morphou, Cyprus. During the invasion of 1974, he was forced to leave. Terlikkas had an interst in music and singing from a young age, and became a student of the late Andreas Mappouras, who was a legendary Cypriot singer and poet. They recorded a few cassettes together, which included tsiattistá, traditional Cypriot couplets. Terlikkas also worked under Theodoulos Kallinikos, who was a collector and interpreter of traditional Cypriot music. Inspired by Theodoulos Kallinikos, he began his own research into Cypriot traditional music, by recording Cypriot elders from all over Cyprus. Working for several years, he slowly managed to accumulate an important personal archive of Cypriot music. Since 1990, Terlikkas has led the Mousa music troupe, which uses solely traditional Cypriot instruments and gives concerts both in Cyprus and abroad.
