Michael James Battle is a native New Yorker born in 1984. He began studying piano with the Academy of Performing and Creative Arts in Clinton, NY. While studying at the Academy, he enrolled with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) located in Bedford Square, London. He has earned a Diploma in Piano Performance from ABRSM and has completed numerous and extensive Theory exams. Besides his Diploma in Piano Performance from the Royal Schools of Music, Michael also holds a degree in Piano Performance from an upstate New York College. Michael is a four year recipients of the Curran Scholarship, the second place recipient of the Utica Symphony Orchestra Youth competition (1999), and in 2006 was the first place recipient for both the Barbara Micale Piano Scholarship and Students Honors Award, held by Onondaga Community College. The Civic Morning Musicals in Syracuse, NY awarded Michael the prestigious "Student of Note" award. His debut recording "Chopin after Midnight" is a Barnes & Noble exclusive and currently in rotation in the popular chains' overhead-play system. Three weeks into the CD's release, "Chopin After Midnight" found itself a position on the Billboard Classical chart. Michael James Battle is a prolific composer in his own right, and his lp features a composition written in honor of his late mother, simply titled "Carol in Db Major".
