Born in 1969 in Lodz, studied composition with Jerzy Bauer at the Academy of Music in Lodz. In years 1995-96 he attended a one-year course in composition and computer music at the IRCAM in Paris under the direction of Tristan Murail, Philippe Manoury, Magnus Lindberg and Marco Stroppa. While studying there, he composed and organised a multimedia project Voyage Amer, together with the French designer Alain Galet. In 1997 he made his "Warsaw Autumn Festival" debut with Avalon’s Gates for flute and computer. From 1998 to 2001 he continued his composition studies in Stuttgart with Ulrich Süße at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. He participated in a course in object modelling synthesis at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM) in Karlsruhe (1999-2000). In August 2000 he presented there - together with the video artist Berthold Gantner - the multimedia project L’Ange noire - 4 Skizzen. Michal Talma-Sutt is a laureate of the following prizes: the International Rostrum of Electroacoustic Music: Second Prize in the general category and First Prize in the 'under-30s' category for What Nostradamus has kept only for himself (1998, Vienna), First Prize in the general category for Light and Shade (2000, Madrid). He received a grant from the Witold Lutoslawski Foundation (1995-2001). In the last years he consecrated himself more and more to the electroacoustic music, in which the combination with live acoustic instruments plays an important role.
