There is only ONE band called Mezcaleros. It is a Blues/Southern Rock/Blues Rock band. The other is The (Los) Mezcaleros. They are not the same! It's a long story .... Initially, this is a kid who listens to ZZ Top and began playing an imaginary guitar ... He grew up with these types of sounds in his head .... J.J.Cale, Buddy Guy, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Elmore James and Homesick James with their bottle neck sounds flooding his ears. And then he began composing his music, heavy at times, combining natural Dobro slides and sounds borrowed from Marshall amps of the 80's on an old Fender Strat of the Fifties ... His idea is to then further develop the music "blues" with modern guitar tones. SRV appeared, and, like him, could not find a singer so he decided to sing himself ... The begining... MEZCALEROS is born… This project had been launched a few months ago by a guitar player, impassioned by Blues and Southern Rock, named Philippe Marseille AKA Phil Mezcal, a French guy from the south (yank !) of France, he used to go very often to the United States and particularly to the Deep south... He's really enamored by the music, the culture and the spirit of those regions and he decided as many amateurs to create his own music by his own way in a home-studio...
