Mexicola were formed in 2003/2004 in the outskirts of Bognor Regies after an interesting series of events. Adam Vallely, the to be drummer of Mexicola, was sitting at lunch at college in Havant with friends from another local band Chub, discussing the upcoming Battle of the Bands and how he might have to soundcheck for the band as their drummer would be elsewhere. On the next table was another group of friends (including the to be Mexicola guitarist/vocalist Mark Dicks), three of which had an ad-hoc band of some description. They were discussing their drummer who had ditched the band days before the contest. Adam over heard and jokingly said he'd fill in....... Days later Adam had scratched together some beats for their songs and the band had somehow pulled through the set, but soon after decided to disband. After this experience and making new friends Adam and Mark decided to form a new band with another guitarist Mike Howe, after 2 practices Mike decided to drop out and the position of bassist was still yet to be filled. Adam had struck up a friendship with the bassist of Chub, Pete Broadbridge, who could also sing so he was soon asked to join this new project. Over the next 3 years the band would play many small gigs with other local bands and created a small dedicated following, including Guy Fletcher (formerly of Dire Straits), who invited them to record their first demo/ep at his home studio later to be called 'AMbidextrous Unisex' and released totally off the band
