The band themselves might disagree; citing “anything jaggy and guitar driven” as an influence, they also draw on “the 'Seattle sound', and all those 'weird' states that recreate its quirkiness, bands like Menomena and Explosions in the Sky from places like Portland and Austin.” World to Come, awash with electronics and delicate vocals, is still best tackled head-on and it pulls no punches where lyrical content is concerned, as Phil Morris, their lyricist explains, “thematically it follows from a demo, Safe Passages to Adulthood... we had decided to live together and make a go of it in Manchester. Each EP is a moment in the formation of our lives; some tracks are about finding your feet as you leave your teens, a lesson in love, of guilt; but there's a lot of social commentary in there [about] those faceless companies that are running and ruining our planet.
