Melton Constable was a British folk ensemble from Cambridge active in the early 70s. Named after the village in Norfolk, the band emerged after the demise of Cambridge blues outfit Toby Jug & Washboard Band. Lead singer Steve Brooks and brothers Alan and Trevor Vincent formed Melton Constable. After playing a few local gigs (including the 1971 Cambridge Free Festival), a studio demo was made of the Brooks' song "River Lane". While rumours persist of further recordings, these have been denied by band members. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
